Thanks for the comment Mike. I think you are on to something here. The idea of breaking the day up into sections allows you to put different projects into the most efficent time periods. I am a morning person and I find that putting "creative" tasks in the morning phase is much better that trying to do them in the afternoon or evening. This could really streamline a GTD model. Hmmm... lots of ideas here.

Speaking of international customs, when I was in Germany in the early 80's I noticed a similar thing. The shops would close after lunch and also after dinner and then reopen into early evening. A down time after meals was the norm.

Seems like this might tie into the 'getting things done' model somehow. My perfect WORK day would probably look like taking care of critical immidiate issues in the morning, taking a nap, then looking at longer term projects in the afternoon.

I think it is also interetsing to look at this internationally. It is traditional for many countries other than the US to have a downtime around noon (a siesta) then carry on with their day after that. When I was visiting Chile, one of the things I had to get used to was to make sure and eat lunch before noon because everything was closed from 12-2. But then again, there would be things going on at all hours of the night.

What about the insomniacs? It may be easy for you to take naps, but it's damn hard for many people.

Ok. I have a quiet place and 20 free minutes. Now how the hell I get myself to sleep?

This is the big question.
