This is the first week of Rosa Say’s September Learning Forum on her Talking Story Blog. The posts so far have been very thought provoking and opened my eyes to a variety of teaching experiences. We have had stories about the Boomer Sisters, Brother George, and Thomas Edison.
The subjects have ranged from Maintaining Your Ignorance to exercising your Passion for Learning. Rosa added the need for a Coolness Factor for learning, while Toni Howard explained her Learning Obsession.
Be sure to check out the upcoming posts everyday throughout the month of September.

Thank you for sharing this John. It IS amazing how much coaching promise for learning resides in the form of the Ho‘ohana Community. Last year, I had written an article called “We Learn from People” and there is no better testament to that statement than the way that JJL ’06 is unfolding before our very eyes. Absolutely amazing.
May I share it again? This is an excerpt from our first JJL forum a year ago:
“Books are magnificent, however we learn from people. And the far majority of those we learn from are not authors.
I feel very privileged to know some wonderfully learned people. They are intelligent, perceptive, and extremely resourceful, and they learn because they are both curious and exceedingly humble. They have a hunger for knowledge, and they seek it continually, instinctively understanding how it nourishes them and makes them better. They teach me on a daily basis, and I marvel at the abundance created in my life because I have come to know them. They come from all walks of life, are of all ages, and they live all over the world. They are the people in our Ho‘ohana Community.
People, and the effect they have on us, are our catalysts for learning.”
Thanks for the mention, John! Rosa has built a wonderful community over at Talking Story, and it’s both a privilege and a pleasure to be a part of it.
John, thanks for sharing our stories with your readers (and I’m happy to now be one of them!); Dan had it exactly right in his comment - Rosa has created something quite extraordinary, and I’m tickled to be a part of it. All the best.
Mahalo John for featuring this great forum and website with such a nice post. Rosa’s Ho’ohana Community is a wonderful resource for inspiration that is open to everyone to enjoy. I am honored to be listed among all of these extraordinary writers and I am even more excited about the articles that are already there and that are coming each day. Wishing you the best.
