Great Ideas Russ! I really like the sound effect from only 4 people. I try to restrict my e-mail viewing time to 3 or 4 times a day, but I never thought about a rule for identifying only certain "important" people.

I'll have to experiment with this!

Thanks,

John

I've significantly tweaked Outlook to not interrupt.
1) No new mail icon in the corner
2) No "ding" wav file when new mail shows up
3) Disabled the pop-up in OL2003 that shows the sender, subject, and first line of the email

What I have done is added sound to the delivery of email from certain people - but only 4 people. That way when I'm working I don't get interrupted except by the ones who I've essentially given permission to do so.
