I have found that I can take or leave caffeine. I enjoy the little pick me up and brain awakening I get from it in the morning, but if I don't get my cup, its not the end of the world.

Heather, thanks for the comment. I think you brought up a good point that we may miss drinking coffee just from a difference in our routine. This is where a coffee substitute such as decaf, green tea, or herbal drinks might be helpful.

MK, thanks for the link to your site. Your caffeine quiz is very informative. I found it interesting that 200 milligrams/day of caffeine seems to be the addiction trigger for many people. It only takes one large Starbucks coffee to reach that amount. Yikes!

I just keep my caffeine consumption very low. Typically my only caffeine comes from two very small (4-6 oz) cups of coffee per day---one in the morning, and one in the afternoon, both sipped slowly and adulterated with milk (but not sugar---why add a sugar rush to the caffeine issue?). On those occasions when I don't have my coffee I miss it on a sort of nostalgic level, but I don't feel negative physical effects. It's a very individual thing, though, and some folks really don't tolerate it at all. I think it's wise to check your own tolerance.
