I read an interesting post today from Steve Sherlock over at the great new collaborative blog, Joyful Jubilant Learning. Steve posted a regular article and a podcast version. I was amazed at the different take-away between the audio version and the written one. It was like they were two completely different articles.
Steve gave me the impetus to try an experiment that I have been thinking about for a while. What would happen if I recorded a podcast in Garageband on my Mac and simultaneously recorded my voice in Dragon’s Naturally Speaking version 9 on the PC (Thanks to reader Anthony Clendenen for the updated review). This would create a podcast and also a written post at the same time.
I’m setting up the microphones along with testing the software and will give this a try later this week. This may be multitasking in its finest or a collossal mess. I’ll report back when the test is done.
Be sure to check out Joyful Jubilant Learning when you get a chance. This is a collaborative effort headed up by Rosa Say along with many other business and educational bloggers. Surf over and learn something new today
Bert over at “Open Loops” is a real inspiration. He has taken his Open Loops logo and had it emblazoned on T-shirts and all sorts of other products. Sheer marketing genius! I think the Success Quadrant Logo would probably look good on a shirt, but I wondered if there was something that would personalize it better.
I did a little market research with the help of Steve Pavlina and one of his recommended sites called problogger. This site had a listing of popular search words for blogs. In the top 10 was the word Tattoo. Inspiration thru Information! Of course… why not a Success Quadrant Logo as a tattoo?
I did a mock up in Photoshop and I think it will be a hit! I’m not a big proponent of tattoo’s, especially in a business setting, but I think anyone will be a success with this one!

What do you Think?
Comments…
Many readers have asked what the significance of the “Success Begins Today” logo is. I thought I would make a quick post here to describe the different parts.

The four crescents around the outside represent the “Success Quadrant”. These symbolize the four attributes that most all successful people share.
1. Passion: What do you love to do?
2. Vision: What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
3. Discipline: The follow through to get the job done.
4. Conscience: Doing what is right.
The triangle shape in the middle represents the “I-Force”. This is the inspirational force that energizes one to greatness. The three components are
1. Inspiration Thru Information: The power of knowledge
2. Inspiration Thru Innovation: The creative power of modification
3. Inspiration Thru Imagination: The influence of great ideas
The shape of the crescents in a round formation symbolizes the daily journey to success. The crescent shape going from wide to a point illustrates the hours in the day. We start with 24 and count them down. Each new day starts again and counts down.
This is the genuine power of “Today”.
I’ll discuss the elements of the symbols over the next few weeks.
Success, as the logo illustrates, begins Today!
Do you think of yourself as successful?
I came across this quotation from John Maxwell and I think it rings true.
“For most people it’s not what they are that holds them back. It’s what they think they’re not.”

Successful thoughts lead to successful lives…
Nabob #1: Procrastination
Nabobs are the little guys that sit on your shoulders and whisper in your ears. The nabob of procrastination is especially insidious. He is always whispering… do it tomorrow, or why do it today when you can put it off till next week, or why bother… it’s just work. This little guy is a Slackers best friend. He will always come up with some reason you can’t do it now.

Unfortunately, he never tells you the consequences of putting it off.
Procrastination: Always an excuse….
Tom Swift is cool! When I was growing up I had many of his books and they always stimulated the imagination. In retrospect he was way ahead of his time. Most of the books I had as a kid were written in the late 50’s or early sixties.
While the tomes were always predictable, they were actually based on scientific research. I looked back at some excerpts from ‘Tom Swift and the Triphibian Atomicar” printed in 1963. Sounds a lot like some of the hybrid cars that are being produced only cooler. And his car gets much better mileage.
Excerpt:
…She and Sandy soon forgot the frightening experience the sheer exhilaration of spinning along as quietly as a breeze. The lack of engine noise, Tom explained, was due to the car being driven by four small electric motors, one of them mounted at each wheel.
“And that steering lever does everything?” Phyl asked.
“Practically everything,” Tom said. “Accelerates, slows, stops, turns, or reverses–depending on how you move the stick.”
Passing motorists goggled admiringly at the bronze, bubble-hooded sports car. As Tom drove farther into the country, the highway skirted pleasant green woodland on the left, while off to the right the blue waters of Lake Carlopa sparkled in the June sunshine.

Sounds convincingly like a 2005 Toyota Prius
